Around noon, a large avalanche, about 300 meters wide, buried part of the road and footpaths in the city of Valloire in the south-east of France, it was confirmed from the prefecture of Savoie. Rescue teams, including police, firefighters, dog teams and military special forces, were deployed for more than four hours, after which the search was called off due to the threat of new avalanches. Two seriously injured persons were transferred by helicopter to nearby hospitals.

At the same time, as reported by BFMTV, citing the prosecutor’s office in the city of Gap, two skiers died in an avalanche off the groomed trails in La Grave, in the neighboring department of Hautes-Alpes.
Météo-France has maintained an orange avalanche warning in Savoie, announcing a gradual improvement in weather conditions. France has been dealing with heavy snowfall in the Alps and flooding in the western parts of the country in recent days.
