Around 300 flights were canceled on Thursday in Italy, with ITA Airways and Easyjet the hardest hit due to a strike by both cabin and ground staff, unions said, Ansa reported.
They added that 87% of the workers called to strike due to the failure to renew the collective agreement in the sector are participating in the protest.
The strike was originally called for February 16, but Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini banned it from taking place during the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
The air strike comes ahead of a 24-hour national rail strike starting at 9pm on Friday.
