The High Court of Spain said today that an investigation will initiate a large disappearance of electricity that happened yesterday, to determine whether the cause of the incident could be a cyber attack.
Judge José Luis Calama stated that such an attack is considered as a possible cause and would be qualified as a terrorist work.
This investigation follows after the Spanish electricity distribution company REE rejected the possibility that the Cyber attack caused the electricity disappearance. However, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said earlier that the government continues to consider all possible hypotheses, the BBC reports.
Sánchez also said that more than 35,000 passengers were affected by trains cancellations during the interruption, while some parts of the country still without services. However, the situation is stabilized – airports, ports and roads function normally, and mobile telephony and optical internet work in 90 percent of the Earth.
In order to further stabilize the situation, the Spanish government decided to release the turnover of three-day strategic reserves of petroleum products.
