Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš advocated banning the use of social networks by children under the age of 15.
“I support this measure because the experts I know say it is very harmful for children. We have to protect our children,” Babis said in a video message posted on Facebook.
First Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlicek said that the cabinet is seriously considering the ban.
Havlicek added that, if the government supports such a measure, the law will be proposed this year.
Several countries, including Spain, Greece, Great Britain and France, are considering introducing stricter measures for the use of social networks due to fears of their negative effects on children.
Australia has become the first country in the world to ban social media for under-16s.
