Members of the Roman Carabinieri arrested a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina who was considered the “chief pickpocket” and who demanded from minors to bring her thousands of euros every day.
This 22-year-old woman is considered the most violent among pickpockets, and she threatened minors, attacked them and forced them to steal on the street.
– If you don’t bring me at least 2,500 euros a day, I will cut you with a knife, she told a 14-year-old girl.
The investigation and reconstruction of the income dynamics was carried out last November, and the investigation was coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office in Venice. Then a criminal network was broken that managed to steal 50,000 euros through 32 cases of pickpocketing, operating daily at train stations in Venice and Mestre, as well as on trains, buses and trams throughout the city. According to the testimonies of pickpockets, usually minors or pregnant women, brutality and intimidation were common methods used by the elders to control the younger ones, within a criminal structure based on obedience, fear and blackmail.
The most violent of all had the nickname “boss”, and immediately after the investigation and before the arrest, she managed to escape. Dozens of them were arrested then, and among those arrested was a young pregnant woman who was taken to the women’s prison in Đudeka.
However, the “boss” has been unavailable to the authorities since November last year. It was believed that she changed her environment because she was famous in Venice, and she knew that a safe prison awaited her. The police were right because she was found this week in Rome. They stopped her during a check and, after entering her information into the system, discovered that she had a detention order issued against her in Venice. She was immediately taken to the Rebibbia prison in Rome.
This 22-year-old BiH citizen played a prominent role in this criminal organization. Children were entrusted to her and she introduced them to crime. There was no room for freedom in the group – whoever did not bring enough money suffered the same brutality that the system inflicted on its victims. The victims were chosen carefully, mostly elderly tourists and people with disabilities, but they often pickpocketed Italians as well. Within the same group, brutality was the rule, always directed against the weakest – children and pregnant women who were forced to steal on the street, reports Independent newspapers.
