The international taekwondo tournament “Noble Taekwondo Tournament of Zaprešić 2026” was held on Sunday, where 630 competitors from 61 clubs from several countries of the region took part.
Posuš taekwondo club “Poskok” also participated in this tournament, which, under the leadership of coach Petr Boban, performed with six competitors who fought for three medalstwo gold and one bronze.
She repeated her result from the tournament in Imotski Anja Penava who won the gold medal and the title of the best female cadet B in the female cadet B +65 kg category through three victories with a score of 2:0 in the rounds. Anja has been training taekwondo for a relatively short time and is a great indicator that with the love for the sport of taekwondo that she recently discovered, as well as dedicated work and effort, a lot can be achieved.
My own the first gold medal she won and Petra Mikulić who in the category of junior female cadets B up to 44 kilograms showed through three victories with results of 2:0 in the rounds that she is the new young hope of the Posuš club and that extra effort always pays off.
Another one appeared in the sports fight Petra Mikulić in the category of younger female cadets, 36 kilograms. In the preliminary round, Petra defeated her opponent with a score of 2:0 in the rounds, but in the fight for the medal, she narrowly lost with a score of 1:2 in the rounds. She performed in the KICK discipline Natalie Boban which after one victory in the semi-final lost to the winner of the category and won the bronze medal.
Female cadets performed in the form discipline Jelena Penava and Lucija Barać, but unfortunately this time without any awards. In the most numerous category, the two very good competitors were stopped in the preliminary round with a small point difference.
On the same day in Zaprešić, the Senior Championship of Croatia in sports combat was held, where the posušak David Milićević performed for taekwondo club Imotski and won a bronze medal.
In the semi-finals, David lost to the representatives from Zagreb with a narrow score of 1:2 in the rounds. In the last seconds of the third round where the experience of the opponent prevailed, David lost the advantage he had the whole round and lost the fight. This is David’s first senior appearance and first senior medal.
In the next two weekends, the best Posuška fighters are expected to perform at BiH Championship in Sarajevo and Federation Championship in Zenica where the cadets will try to win the first points for the appearance at the European Cadet Championship.
coach Petar Boban said that they brought mostly young and relatively inexperienced athletes who are just maturing in this sport to the tournament in Zaprešić.
They are all justified their performance at this big tournament and I congratulate them on their performances and medals. In particular, the already experienced David Milićević, who performed for the first time at the senior tournament and showed that he will be a serious candidate for the Croatian senior taekwondo team in the future, proved himself. We are after David two tough junior years decided to rest for half a year, so with only three or four light training sessions a week, he did not seriously prepare for this National Championship, so what he showed in Zaprešić shows that his time is yet to come. He just turned 17 and still has a lot of work and results ahead of him. Next weekend we are performing at the BiH Championship, where we expect good performances from our athletes and several BiH champions, said Boban.
