Last Thursday, the day before the World Cup match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland, Vijesti.ba published a survey conducted on the streets of Banja Luka.
What was recorded in those recordings soon caused a strong response not only in the domestic, but also in the regional public.
The reactions were so intense that other media, some on the same day, and some the next, sent their teams to the field in Banja Luka. The goal was to confirm or refute the impression that was created after the publication of Vijesti.ba, that is, to check whether the mood of the citizens is really as it was shown.
In the public space, a message stood out in particular, which, apparently, became the most quoted part of the entire survey. The headline of Vijesti.ba, which described the mood in Banja Luka – “We cheer for Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is our country”, soon began to dominate the reports and polls of other media.
One statement in particular marked the week behind us, and by all accounts, it could be remembered for much longer. Vuk Milisavić said: “I am a Serb, but I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I will support Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is our country, just like the Bosnians. I hope we will pass the group. And I think we have a great chance to do so. Going forward, we could maybe make the quarterfinals. If we pass the group stage and reach the quarterfinals, I think it is a great success for Bosnia and Herzegovina at this World Cup.”

This statement quickly received a huge response on social networks. The figures that followed further emphasized its influence, 1.3 million views on Facebook alone, 60 thousand likes, five thousand positive comments and more than a thousand shares from the Vijesti.ba profile, with an additional half a million views on the Instagram account.
In the same survey, the statement of Svetozar Vejnović was recorded, who commented: “I’m sorry that some guys don’t play in the national team”.
And indeed some players chose something else before BiH. Today, they may regret it, because “the sun of another’s sky has not yet warmed them”. They lack the courage of Vuk Milisavić.
