Štimac before the first match of the BiH Cup final: We will do everything to win the trophy

From the camp of Zrinjski they announce that they will do everything in order to celebrate in this double match and thus take the cup winner’s trophy.

Zrinjski coach Igor Štimac, for whom this will be an opportunity for a second trophy with Plemići, announced tomorrow’s first final match between Zrinjski and Velež.

– We will do everything to win the Cup, the team is in good shape, the boys are in a good mood and there is great energy in training. Apart from Sušić and Morris, everyone is in the squad, so I sleep peacefully – said Štimac.

Zrinjski has a positive record against Velež this season – two away wins and a draw at their stadium under Bijeli Brijeg. Štimac answered the question about how this game tomorrow could be different from the previous ones in the season.

– It mostly depends on the approach of the guests. Given that it is a two-legged match, such and such situations are possible in terms of their tactical approach, but we are ready for any scenario. I expect a good game, for my players to run out with maximum confidence, to attack from the first minute and finish the season properly – stressed the coach of Zrinjski.

He believes that his team will achieve a positive result tomorrow before the rematch at Arena Rođena.

– I think that, objectively speaking, we are a better team and that our performances during most of the season were quite good, especially the European part. We will do our best for this season to end as all fans expect: positively and with another trophy – said Štimac.

At the end, he said that they are not particularly burdened by the fact that they could lift the trophy at the city rival’s stadium, but that they are “focused on the field and the game”.

Let us remind you that Zrinjski and Velež already met once in the Cup final. It was in May 2023 at the Bilino polje stadium in Zenica, when one game was played, and when the players of Zrinjski won with a score of 1:0 and thus took the first double crown in the history of the club.

Zrinjski is looking for his fourth BiH Cup trophy in this competition. They won the title in the 2007/08, 2022/23 seasons. and 2023/24, while in the domestic championship they have the most trophies with nine titles, including last season’s.

It should be hot in the stands as well, the Ultras are returning to their “Standing” stand, while the “Red Army” fans of Velež have also announced their arrival at tomorrow’s game.

The first match of the BiH Cup final is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, starting at 6 p.m.
