Ljubuški will become the center of top basketball and humanity in mid-May. In the organization of the association of veterans “Old Stars Zagreb ’89” and “Old Stars Ljubuški”, from May 15 to 17, 2026, the 37th international veteran basketball tournament “Old Stars Zagreb” will be held.
It is about one of the biggest and longest running basketball tournaments of this type in this part of Europe, which has been gathering numerous basketball enthusiasts since 1989. This year, a significant number of teams and participants from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Italy, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England and Kosovo are expected in Ljubuški.
It will attract special attention of the public humanitarian match which will take place on Saturday, May 16 starting at 5 p.m. in the City Hall in Ljubuški. A real spectacle is expected on the floor with the performance of numerous basketball greats, including current and former NBA players such as Ivica Zubac, Dario Šarić, Jusuf Nurkić, Marija Hezonja (in negotiations), Bojan Bogdanović, Dino Radja, Stojko Vranković, Mirza Teletović and many others.
Along with them, numerous former players of big European clubs such as Real, Barcelona, Fenerbahçe, Olympiakos and Cibona will perform, as well as well-known coaching names, among them Željko Pavličević and Pino Đerđa.
All proceeds from the charity match are intended Association of parents of children with special needs “DUGA” from Ljubuškiwhich gives this sporting event additional value and importance.
The organizers point out that the tournament has strong promotional effect for Ljubuški and the entire region, given the great interest of the media and the presence of participants from all over Europe.

On those days, Ljubuški will be a place where sport, community and humanity play on the same side. Advance ticket sales at a price of 10 KM for adults (children up to 12 years of age can enter for free) will be in the cafe bar “Sport” and in the cafe bar “Akademija” in Ljubuško, and on the day of the match tickets can be bought in the City Sports Hall in Ljubuško, the organizers announced.
