Croatian basketball club Široki, after 12 seasons, returned to where it belongs, in the highest rank of regional basketball.
In two great final games of the ABA 2 league, the basketball players of the club from Pecara played against the TFT team in one word – male.
Without excessive announcements, without any “whining”, whatever they had to say, they did it on the floor as they did throughout the season.
Quiet, humble, fighting and characterful.
But what is being prepared tonight in the center of Široki Brijeg will be neither quiet nor humble. The city celebrates its champions deservedly.
The welcome of the basketball players and the coaching staff attracted numerous spectators and fans. Celebrating a new title in a rich treasury of trophies and a return to the old paths of glory the fans came to celebrate the club that “worked hard” at Pecara and defeated the biggest names in regional basketball in togetherness and joy that will last long into the night.

- Dominik Vujanovic he said he was proud of the whole team. This is a really amazing experience, when I remember that I am I used to welcome the champions, and now someone is welcoming me. It’s something you dream of as a boy and this is the realization of that dream. I’m really proud of the whole team, thank you to all these people who supported us throughout the season and for coming together tonight to show us their respect and to celebrate this title together, stated Vujanović, along with the message “Let Roki enjoy tonight”.
- HKK coach Široki also shared his impressions after the club’s great success Marijan Bagarić: What I repeat all season, we showed that togetherness and character and that’s why we won. I think it was fully deserved, the TFT team is really a difficult team to play against.
However, and when we were losing, if I turned to the bench, I saw that no one lost faith at no time. We’ve always come back and I’m really proud of these guys. All but one – from those who did not enter the game to those who did not leave the game, they all believed from beginning to end and it backfired on us. This was a team win and I congratulate them, said Bagarić in a statement to the media.

- Ante Suton, The president of HKK Široki reflected on the upcoming steps of the club after the great success: We didn’t think much about the next steps, we went game by game. Only now is the real work on usthese days we will start with meetings and conversations how increase the club’s budget which inevitably has to be increased in order to be able to play the ABA league, which is definitely one step higher compared to what we have played so far.
