Reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein ef. On the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan, Kavazović spoke about religion, believers and intentions, peoples, the state, the known past and the uncertain future.
Speaking about the spiritual dimension of fasting, he pointed out that Ramadan especially touches those who truly seek it.
“Ramadan can touch those hearts that are looking for Ramadan, that are looking for God’s mercy and forgiveness. As the Prophet said, in a way, the loser is the one who does not deserve God’s forgiveness in the month of Ramadan,” said Reis Kavazović, guest in “Plenum” of Federal Television.
Speaking about the perception of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina as “European” or “modern”, Reis rejects such qualifications.
“Islam is one religion, regardless of where Muslims live. There is no European Islam. There is Islam,” he pointed out.
He explained that there are different traditions of Muslims, depending on the geographical and cultural context.
When it comes to BiH. tradition of Islam, singles out one key feature.
“What is characteristic of the BiH tradition is its inclusivity. That tradition is open, alive, inclusive and in a way a special sapling within the spirituality of Islam,” said Reis Kavazović.
Commenting on the strengthening of the right and anti-Islamic mood in Europe, Reis points out that “the world of Islam and the world of Europe touched each other, and where they touched, there was always friction.”
However, he believes in the strength of reasonable and true believers.
“Smart people, those who live their faith, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Jews or others, understand these things and look at life as a gift from God,” he said.
Speaking about attempts to present Bosnian Muslims as a threat to neighbors or Europe, he says that such narratives have a political background.
“There are political agendas that, according to BiH Muslims, are not from yesterday. They are ongoing,” says Reis Kavazović.
Despite the destruction, genocide and serious crimes of the past, he emphasizes that the country has survived.
“Despite everything, Bosnia and Herzegovina has survived and we have managed to build a society over the past 30 years. It is not ideal, but it works,” he said.
He believes that returning to destructive policies would mean returning to the nineties.
“Opening difficult questions and giving permission to the irresponsible to carry out destruction again would take us to the nineties. No normal person in Bosnia and Herzegovina wants that,” explains Reis Kavazović.
Speaking about the reforms, he points out that their absence has serious consequences.
“If there are no reforms, there will only be suffering on all sides. Those who do not want reforms are causing pain and suffering to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said President Kavazović, reports Klix.
