For another place, the NICUŞOR mayor of the Bucharest Nicuşor is struggling with 20.65 percent of the vote and candidate of the ruling coalition Ion Antonesca with 20.64 percent of the vote.
The second round of choice is planned for 18. May 2025.
Simion stated that he would not issue the trust given by the citizens.
“I want to thank everyone who voted for me. It was an act of courage, trust and I am grateful to everyone and assure you that I will not issue your trust,” he said in the recorded message, Romanian media.
He said he achieved an exceptional result, accusing the media that the lies spread during the campaign.
“You won. Today, the Romanian people spoke. It’s time to be heard, despite obstacles, despite the manipulations (…) Romanians got up,” Simion said.
He emphasized that he would remain loyal to Georgescu, the Pro-Candidate in the previously annulled elections 24. November, adding not to want power for himself.
“In the next few hours, the hyenas will tear each other to come to power. It is not our struggle, we will not interfere in their struggle. We are here to write history, not to deal with politics,” Simion said, reports the Digi24.ro portal.
