Our newsroom received a message from citizens warning about, as they say, the increasingly common practice of cable operators to cancel certain TV channels without explanationwhile the subscription prices do not change.
According to them, users are put in a situation where they pay for the same packages, but for reduced and modified servicewithout prior consent or clear information about the reasons for the changes.
“We are not powerless – there is an institution”
Citizens are reminded that users of cable and telecom services in Bosnia and Herzegovina have legal protection, and that the competent authority for such cases is Regulatory Agency for Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RAK).
RAK, as a state institution, supervises the work of telecom operators such as BH Telecom, Telemacha, HT Eronetbut also other cable systems, as well as TV and radio stations, with a clear task – protection of user rights.
The announcement states that RAK is competent in situations where the operator changes the service without a valid explanation or to the detriment of citizensand that users can contact this institution via the number 033 250 600.
Pay more, get less?
In particular, the problem that, according to citizens, affects a large number of households is highlighted:
TV programs are removed from the package
content is subject to change without notice
monthly bills remain unchanged
Citizens are reminded that as users they have the right to:
they ask for a clear and written explanation
submit a complaint to the operator
require reduction of the account or termination of the contract
contact RAK if the operator ignores their requests
A call to users not to put up with silence
They also instructed public invitation to all usersincluding users of the service My TV, Telemachus and other operators, to inform themselves about their rights and not to accept changes without reaction.
“If a larger number of citizens turn to the competent institutions, the pressure is greater, and operators are forced to behave more responsibly,” they say.
In the end, they emphasize that this, as they say, it is not a political issuebut a fight for the basic rights of citizens who regularly pay for a service and expect fair treatment.
“We are not powerless and we are not alone,” say the citizens, with an appeal to share the information so that as many users as possible know who they can turn to.
