Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs won last night in the first round of the Eastern and Western Conference playoffs.
Orlando Magic made a surprise last night in the first round of the playoffs by winning on the road with 112-101 Detroit Pistonsthe first team of the Eastern Conference.
Orlando, which entered the playoffs from eighth place in the Eastern Conference, led to victory against first-place Detroit Paolo Banchero with 23 baskets, nine rebounds and four assists. Franz Wagner added 19 points and Desmond Bane and Wendal Carter each had 17 points to lead Orlando 1-0 in the four-game winning streak.
He was the best with the Pistons Cade Cuningham with 39 points, while Tobias Harris scored 17 points. The Pistons will have a chance to equalize on the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
San Antonio Spurs opened the playoffs with a victory. In the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, they defeated Portland Trail Blazers at home with 111-98. The most deserving of San Antonio’s victory was Victor Wembanyama, who scored 35 points in his first career playoff. Stephpon Castle and D’Aaron Fox each added 17 points and a combined 15 assists. Portland was led by Danny Avdi with 30 steals and 10 rebounds. The next game is scheduled for Tuesday.
Oklahoma City Thunder started defending the title with a victory, they won 119-84 on their home field in the first game of the Western Conference playoffs Phoenix Suns. The best in the ranks of Oklahoma were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 25 and Jalen Williams with 22 points, while Chet Holmgren added 16 points.
Devon Booker scored 23 points and Dillon Brooks scored 18 points. The second game of this series is scheduled for Wednesday.
Boston Celtics were defeated on Sunday in the first game of the first round series of the Eastern Conference Philadelphia 76ers 123-91. Jayson Tatum, in his first playoff game since tearing his right Achilles tendon last season, scored 25 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists, and Jaylen Brown added 26 points. Tatum scored 21 points in the first half, playing in just his 17th game of the season after undergoing Achilles surgery last May. Boston wasn’t far behind, building a 35-point lead as coach Joe Mazzulla gave minutes to 12 players. Game 2 is Tuesday night in Boston.
Tyrese Maxey scored 21 points and had eight assists for the Sixers, who were without Joel Embiid.
