Over the course of two days, 366 judokas and 208 judokas will perform on the tatami in the Arena Hills hall, and among the talented young European judokas aged U14 and U16 there are also 112 competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who today showed enviable quality and confirmed that judo sport in our country has a perspective.
Omar Amro won gold in the category up to 66 kilograms, while Muhamed Hurić and Lazar Latinović won bronze medals in the same category.
The brightest medal ended up around the neck of the young BiH. judoka Nikola Narančić, who defeated Hamza Babić in the final of the -73 kg category, while Tarik Žunić climbed to the top of the winner’s podium in the boys’ +74 kg competition.
Unfortunately, Ali Babić was left without gold in the category up to 55 kilograms for the age of 14, but the silver in extremely strong competition deserves all the praise, and Filip Nezirović and Miloš Pejčinović won medals in the category up to 60 kilograms.
Viktoria Vrančić won silver in the category of girls up to 52 kg, while Melisa Jergalić and Jana Bašević won bronze medals in the +63 kg category.
Young judokas from Bosnia and Herzegovina also showed in the age category up to 16 that they can compete with their peers from Europe. Milijan Veletić was the best in the category up to 55 kilograms, while Harun Mulaosmanović won silver in the competition up to 60 kilograms.
Ajša Adilović brought another gold to our country and her club in the category up to 40 kilograms, while her club colleague Aya Hasan Ahmad won silver in the competition up to 36 kilograms, strengthening the Braća Lukač Judo club in second position after the first day of competition.
At the grand opening ceremony, Ognjen Pavlović, president of the Judo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Branislav Crnogorac, director of development of the European Judo Union, addressed a large number of participants and sports fans, wishing everyone a pleasant stay in Sarajevo and thanking everyone who helped organize such an event.
The day before the start of the competition, the Kodokan technical seminar started, led by Kodokan expert Misato Nakamura, a three-time world champion with the help of Aleksandar Kukolj and the famous BiH. judoka Larisa Cerić.
