Mateo Lučić, three-time vice-champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in eFootball, represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at this year’s Montenegro Future Festival, held from April 24 to 26 in Bar.
Lucic is through demanding qualifications won a performance among the best in the competition more than 120 players from Europe and beyond, as the best placed player from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is about one of the of the biggest regional events which unites gaming, esports, technology and digital economy, and which gathers an increasing number of participants from all over the world every year. Thus, the presence this year was taken by professional players and teams, as well as industry representatives, investors and technology companies. This kind of environment positions this festival as a key platform for connecting and developing the digital scene in the region.
Bosnia and Herzegovina had its representative again this year, thanks to the involvement of the E-sport Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mateo Lučić was the only competitor who defended the country’s colors in the eFootball discipline.
The tournament was extremely strongwhich is confirmed by the results at the international level. As part of the Mediterranean Games, the national team of Morocco celebrated, the second place went to Lebanon, while the third was won by France, while in a separate World Cup competition, the title was won by Portugal.
Lučić started his performance in the group stage where he faced extremely demanding opponents – national teams Lebanon, Montenegro and Spain. Against Lebanon, he played an uncertain double-header (2:2 and 2:3), while he recorded defeats against hosts Montenegro (0:1 and 1:4). In the duels with Spain, he showed his quality by registering a 3:1 victory, but also a 0:3 defeat, which in the end was not enough to qualify for the final and enter the top 16 competitors of the tournament.
Lučić emphasized the importance of the experience he brings with him.

The competition was extremely strong and this is a great experience for me that will surely help me in my further development. I am motivated to continue working even harder and I believe that Bosnia and Herzegovina has many talented playersnot only in eFootball, but also in other esports disciplines, he ordered.
