According to the latest available data, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina the average retail price of premium unleaded gasoline 95 BAS EN 228 (BMB 95) on February 9, 2026. it was 2.31 KM per liter, which represents a slight decrease of 0.43% compared to the previous month, when it was 2.32 KM per liter, the Ministry of Trade of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
Compared to the average price from January 2025, when it was 2.45 KM per liter, a decrease of 5.71% was recorded. Average retail price of diesel BAS EN 590 (10 ppm) on 02/09/2026. year was 2.32 KM per liter, which represents an increase of 1.31% compared to the previous month, when the price was 2.29 KM per liter.
However, compared to January 2025, when the average price of diesel was 2.50 KM per liter, diesel is currently cheaper by 7.2%. Compared to neighboring countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia have the lowest average fuel prices, but at the same time they have the highest number of gas stations per capita.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has a total of 1,205 gas stations (Federation of BiH 715, Republika Srpska 490) with an official population of 3,140,095, which means that there is one gas station for every 2,606 inhabitants. For the sake of comparison, in the Republic of Croatia, with a population of 3,848,160, there are 870 gas stations operating, that is, one gas station for every 4,423 inhabitants. These data indicate a marked saturation of the market and a large number of retail establishments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, a larger number of gas stations contributes to stronger market competition, which, as a rule, affects the maintenance of stability and the reduction of retail fuel prices, according to the FBiH Ministry of Trade, reports NOISE.
