The Palestinian Press Office on Prisoners announced that Israeli authorities have placed writer and political analyst Sari Orabi under administrative detention for six months.
Orabi, who writes for Arabi21, from the village of Rafat, north of occupied Jerusalem, was arrested last week as part of a wide-ranging arrest campaign in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
He is considered one of the leading writers and researchers in the West Bank and has been arrested several times by Israeli forces since the 1990s.
These events take place at a time when the number of rights violations by the Israeli army and settler attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem is increasing.
On Saturday, the Palestinian Prisoners Media Office highlighted that prisoners in Israeli prisons face harsh conditions, which have led to the deaths of 86 prisoners in less than 26 months.
In its statement, the office documented a “disturbing” pattern of widespread practices, including “torture, medical neglect and enforced disappearances.”
