Experienced coach Vahid Halilhodžić (73) arrived at the club towards the end of the season with the task of trying to avoid the worst scenario. After a four-year break, he decided to accept a challenge that seemed extremely difficult from the beginning.
The situation in the table for Nantes looks increasingly worse, and an additional problem is the fact that Halilhodžić has to watch most of the games from the stands due to his suspension. He was punished after allegedly insulting the referee.
“After this game, it’s probably all over. I’m really sorry and it’s hard for Nantes,” said the visibly shaken coach.

He added that he had never experienced a similar situation in his long career.
“I have the feeling that everything has been against us since I arrived. Maybe I’m cursed. It’s hard to watch the club in this state. If I had arrived earlier, maybe a lot of things would have been different,” said Halilhodžić.
Speaking about the game against PSG, he had no dilemma.
“We played against a football miracle. It is currently the best team in the world,” he pointed out.
Nantes is currently in penultimate, 17th place with 20 points won. The play-off zone is five points away, and that position is held by Auxerre. At the end of the championship, Nantes faces a tough fight for survival.
