American swimmer Gretchen Walsh set a new world record in the 100-meter butterfly event in Fort Lauderdale, setting a new world record in the event with a time of 54.33 seconds.
Walsh already held the previous best, a time of 54.60 in the same pool last May.

Walsh, who won three gold medals at last year’s world championships in Singapore, now has a time more than a second better than the second fastest swimmer in history, Sweden’s Sarah Sjöstsröm (55.48), reports Hina.
