The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced that in the framework of the adopted Budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2026, about 712 million KM is planned for the allocation of this ministry. Of that amount, 670 million KM, or almost 94 percent, is intended directly for various forms of compensation and support for citizens.
The Ministry states that funds for key social categories have been increased compared to previous years. Thus, in 2026, 59 million KM is planned for the compensation of caring parents, which is 41.5 million KM more than in 2022. Allocations for civilian victims of war were increased from 23.7 million KM in 2022 to 31.5 million KM in 2026.
In 2026, 336 million KM was planned for compensation for people with disabilities, while in 2022, 142 million KM was allocated for this purpose. Significant growth is also recorded in the child allowance, for which 228 million KM is planned in the budget, compared to 50 million KM four years ago. Parallel to the growth of total allocations, the individual amounts of benefits were also increased, so the child allowance increased from 114 to 195 KM in that period, while the benefits for people with disabilities in the most severe categories increased from 400 to almost 800 KM.
The Ministry points out that support for the birth rate will continue in 2026 as well. For the third year in a row, 16 million KM is planned for one-time assistance to newborn children in the amount of 1,000 KM per child. In the previous two years, this measure covered more than 30,000 families in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Additionally, 13.3 million KM is planned for the development of social services in local communities, through the work of social work centers, municipal services and public and non-profit organizations that provide support to children with disabilities, children and youth with developmental difficulties, children without parental care, victims of violence, the elderly and infirm, as well as other vulnerable categories of the population.
A total of 2.24 million KM is planned to support pensioners, of which two million KM are intended for spa treatment, while the remaining funds will be directed to healthy and active aging projects.
Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić stated that the budget for 2026 shows continuity in strengthening social security and systemically increasing support for all categories that the Ministry cares about, with parallel work on improving the normative-legal framework with the aim of improving the rights and quality of life of users.
