The well-known criminal (59) was the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which in recent years has become the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico. A few minutes after 11:00 a.m., footage from inside the airport began to circulate showing people fleeing in panic and hiding in the waiting rooms due to an alleged intrusion by armed men, which has not been officially confirmed. Management company GAP described the situation as “panic that has arisen but does not reflect the real situation”. At the bus station in Guadalajara, there was a partial interruption of lines due to roadblocks and shootings in the vicinity of the terminal.
Social networks have been flooded with unverified posts that have further fueled fear among citizens, including an alleged threat from the cartel that from 2 p.m. people found on the street will be killed “whether they are innocent or not.”
