The illegal goods were intercepted on Sunday when the truck tried to leave Bulgaria at the Kapetan Andreev checkpoint on the country’s border with Turkey, the NCA said in a press release.
The truck driver claimed that he was transporting flowers from the Netherlands to Turkey via Bulgaria. A thorough examination revealed, however, that 11.18 kilograms of cocaine, divided into 10 packets, were hidden in the driver’s cabin, the NCA announced.
Moreover, in the pockets of the driver’s jacket, three packages containing four gold bars were found, weighing a total of 5,199 grams, according to the NCA.
The driver of the truck, along with two other people involved in the case, has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing, reports Xinhua.
