Iran announced on Tuesday that a deal with the United States is “within reach, but only if diplomacy is given priority,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said days ahead of expected talks between Tehran and Washington in Geneva.
Araghchi pointed out at Platform X that Iran will continue negotiations with the US in Geneva with the intention of reaching a fair and balanced agreement “as soon as possible”. He said Tehran sees a “historic opportunity” to reach an agreement that would take into account mutual concerns and interests.
At the same time, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Majid Takht‑Ravanchi, stated that Iran is ready to take all necessary steps to reach an agreement with the US and that the Iranian delegation will enter the negotiating room “with complete sincerity and goodwill”. He warned that any US attack on Iran would be a “real gamble”.
Talks are expected in Geneva on Thursday, where Iranian and US delegations will try to overcome differences that have so far hindered the deal, particularly over the nuclear program and the potential lifting of sanctions.
