The United States and Japan must harmonize their defense capacity to face the growing pressure of China, said the new American ambassador to Japan George Glass upon arrival in Tokyo Friday.
– We are in Japan in a very difficult neighborhood. There are Russia, China and North Korea – said Glass journalists at Haneda Airport, adding that allies must “respond to the challenges that represents country like China.

Japan hosts the largest number of stationed American troops outside the USA, including squadron airplanes and the only offensive formation in the aircraft carrier distributed out of the home territory.
In recent years, Tokyo launched historical strengthening of military capacities and a series of projects with Washington for better coordination of the armed forces and the defense industry.
However, the unclear position of the former President Donald Trump on Support Ukraine and his dissatisfaction with the costs of military alliances caused concerns about the long-term commitment to the United States to security partnerships around the world.
Glass said that the focus of Washington was in the security of American and Japanese citizens, as well as to ensure the necessary support and resource army to respond to the threats from Beijing, says Reuters.
When asked about Glass’s statements, a spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lin Jian said that diplomats need to promote friendship, not to spread negative rhetoric, pointing out that China is the “power of international peace”.
