2025 year in the Zenica-Doboj Canton was marked by a series of concrete measures, investments and reforms that affected almost all key areas – economy, agriculture, education, health, environmental protection, security and social policy.
Economy, investments and industrial growth
Already in the second quarter of the year, the focus was on economic development and strengthening the canton’s competitiveness. ZDK recorded strong growth in industrial production, exports and average wages, with the best foreign trade balance in the Federation of BiH, which was also confirmed through official economic indicators.

They attracted special public attention new investmentssuch as the investment of the Alpina Bromy company in Tešanj, as well as the signing of contracts on the construction and improvement of industrial zones with several local communities. The Ministry of Economy ZDK additionally supported domestic companies through the financing of performances at fairs and promotion of exports
Agriculture with record support
Agriculture was one of the priorities throughout the year. The ZDK government approved more than 3.6 million KM in direct support to agricultural producerswhile total incentives in this area have almost doubled in the last two years. The canton thus entered the year 2026 with a record agricultural budget
Education and youth
In the field of education, the year 2025 was particularly significant. ZDK became the first canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that completed the reform of curricula for elementary schools and high schoolsand all primary school students are provided with free textbooks. At the same time, energy efficiency projects of school buildings were realized, with the support of international partners
Special support programs are aimed at to young people from the public care systemwhich further strengthened the social component of the educational system.
Health, social care and care for vulnerable groups
During the year, the health sector received significant financial reinforcements – from additional funds for specializations of doctors of the Zenica Cantonal Hospitalthrough the rebalancing of the financial plan of the Health Insurance Institute, to investments in programs for patients with diabetes and malignant diseases
At the same time, the ZDK Government ensured one-time assistance to pensionersadditional funds for the veteran population, as well as support for the projects of non-governmental organizations in the field of social protection.
Environment, energy and air quality
During the second half of the year, activities on environmental protection and improvement of air quality. Multi-million dollar agreements were signed for energy efficiency projects, “green energy”, pollution remediation and the preparation of the Register of Home Fireplaces, and significant funds were also allocated to municipalities and associations for environmental projects.
Security and protection of citizens
In the field of security, the year 2025 brought strengthening the capacities of the police and civil protection. MUP ZDK received new vehicles and equipment, almost a hundred new police officers were employed, and at the end of the year, a new helicopter intended for the protection and rescue of citizens in crisis situations was promoted.
Zenica-Doboj canton has shown through concrete decisions and projects continuity of development and a clear orientation towards improving the quality of life of citizens. Investments, social measures, reforms and strengthening of institutions marked the year 2025 as a period in which solid foundations were laid for the challenges and projects that follow in 2026.
