Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that only the United States has the power to force Russia to reach peace.
“Let’s be honest, today only Ukraine defends Europe. Today only Europe gives money to Ukraine and helps it. Only the United States can stop Putin,” he said in an interview with POLITICO.
Zelensky, however, expressed concern that the White House may not understand the essence of the problem.
“According to what I see, they are sending more signals that Ukraine must make compromises, not Russia,” he said.
“I don’t think that’s the right attitude. Of course, it’s simpler that way,” he added.
Referring to the age of Vladimir Putin, Zelensky noted that the Russian president, who is now 73 years old, is no longer a young man.
“There is not too much time,” said the Ukrainian president. “God forbid there aren’t too many,” he concluded.
