The member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) have reached an agreement on the preparation of the world for future pandemies after more than three years of negotiations, it was announced on Wednesday morning.

Legally binding the agreement aims to strengthen the defense of the world from new pathogens after the Panja-19 pandemic have died millions of people 2020-2022.

The proposal is stated for the prevention of future pandemic and strengthening global cooperation.

This includes the establishment of access to pathogens, information sharing systems, and the construction of research capacities in different parts of the world. The agreement is also proposed by a global supply chain and logistics network with emphasis on greater resistance and readiness of the health system.

After more than three years of intense negotiations, the WHO member states made a big step forward in efforts to make the world safer than the pandemic, standing in a statement. The agreement is generally considered a victory for the global health agency, at a time when multilateral organizations such as WHO affected by the sharp cuts of foreign financing.

The United States, who joined early negotiations, left talks this year after the new President Donald Trump issued an executive decree in February to withdrawing the United States from the WHO and negotiations.

The proposal will be considered at the Political Meeting of the World Health Assembly in May, the WHO said.

“This is a historical moment and shows that with the USA or without the country is dedicated to the common work and strength of multilateralism,” she said for Reuters Nina Schwalbe, Founder Global Health Think Tank Spark Street Advisors.
