FBiH Interior Minister Ramo Isak submitted to the FBiH Government the names of candidates for director and deputy director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP). Now we are waiting for that point to be found at the government session.
FBiH Police Minister Ramo Isak confirmed for Klix.ba that he completed his work by sending a proposal to the FBiH Government and that the candidate for FUP director Igor Marić and the candidate for FUP deputy director Vahidin Šahinpašić meet the prescribed conditions.
Marić and Šahinpašić previously received positive evaluations from the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament after interviews.
Igor Marić is the long-time chief of the criminal police of the MUP of the West Herzegovina Canton (ZHK), while Vahidin Šahinpašić is the head of the war crimes department at SIPA.
After the Independent Board and the Minister of Internal Affairs have done their part, the decision now rests with the Government of FBiH, which can give the green light for the appointment of the director and deputy, or only the director or only the deputy, and can “overturn” everything by expressing dissatisfaction with the submitted proposals for the director and deputy director.
Such a case was recorded in 2022, when the FBiH Government during the time of Prime Minister Fadil Novalić refused to support the appointment of Svevlad Hoffman and Ensad Korman as director and deputy director of the FUP. Then the ministers remained “reticent” on the proposed names.
FUP has not had a permanent director since 2019, when Dragan Lukač made the decision to retire due to a serious health condition.
From 2023, Vahidin Munjić was the acting director of the FUP, and he was replaced by Enes Zeljković on November 17 of this year, when, as part of the investigation into the “Munjić and others” case, Munjić was ordered to prohibit, among other things, from performing his duties and approaching the workplace. In addition, Munjić is retiring at the end of this month.
Zeljković came to this position automatically because he was previously appointed as the head of the criminal police of the Federal Police Administration. However, he is also retiring soon, which increases the urgency of choosing a new director.
Currently, the acting director is Aldin Sinanović, and there is a great need to finally resolve the issue of the director and deputy director, because FUP constantly suffers from constant changes of managers, he writes. Klix.
