On the agenda, EU partner relations are in the region, with a focus on strengthening security and defensive cooperation in light of growing political challenges.
As announced on the EU Council page, a concrete discussion is expected about the situation in BiH and Serbia, and on regional stability in general.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Safety of Kaja Kallas, which will preside on the meeting, will report to the Ministers about its recent visit to BiH, Montenegro and Albania.
I would, so, once again, be in the focus of European diplomacy – it remains to be seen whether the Luxembourg will arrive more specifically political messages or just another warning.
However, it is clear that the international community, and especially the EU, can no longer ignore the challenges coming from the RS entities.
Current political events in the country further complicates the behavior of the Dodik fugitive, which followed the country’s destabilization after the Court of BiH.
His activities, including threats to state institutions, laws and the High Representative, coincided with global political turbulence, hoping to come across understanding and support in some European and world circles.
However, both the time moves, it becomes more clearly that the expected international support is absent. Instead of an ally, Dodik faces a series of sanctions and sharp convictions, not only from the US, but also from the Key countries of the European Union, including Germany, Austria and France.
Therefore, tomorrow’s meeting in Luxembourg could be another opportunity to send a strong message to the encouragement to Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also clear warning to those who threaten her constitutional order.
The European Union has already hinted that it is ready for more concrete steps, and it remains to be seen whether now the verbal phase will be passed into the phase of political determination.
