In a statement published on Telegram, Ukrainian intelligence officers state that the Kremlin, after the so-called “attacking Putin’s residence”, spreading new, fabricated information constructs to prepare the Russian and international public for further escalation.
“With a high degree of probability, we expect a transition from manipulative information activities to armed provocation by the Russian secret services, which would involve significant human losses,” the announcement reads.
The provocation could be carried out before or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar, which is celebrated on January 7. Religious buildings or other places of strong symbolic significance, either on the territory of Russia or in the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine, are mentioned as possible locations of attacks.
According to Kiev’s claims, the Russian services could use the remains of Western attack drones to accuse Ukraine. “In order to stage evidence of the alleged involvement of Ukraine, it is planned to use fragments of Western combat drones, which would be brought to the place of provocation from the front line,” the foreign intelligence service states.
At the end of the press release, Ukrainian intelligence officers call on the media to approach the materials published by the Kremlin with great caution, to check them thoroughly and to refrain from spreading Russian disinformation.
