On February 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy intends to present a plan for holding presidential elections, which would be held together with a referendum on a possible peace agreement with Russia.
This information was confirmed on Wednesday by Ukrainian and Western officials familiar with the planning, writes the Financial Times.
Last week, Reuters reported that, under the framework being discussed by American and Ukrainian negotiators, any peace agreement with Russia would be subject to popular approval in a referendum.
Voters would decide on the agreement at the same time as the national elections, and officials mentioned May as a possible date. The Financial Times confirmed today that Ukraine has already started preparations.
