According to the information so far, the two boys, aged seven and eight, started for school around 7:45, but never got there. They were quickly reported missing, after which a large-scale police operation was launched.
The case was confirmed for the Austrian portal Heute.at by the police press office, but without providing more detailed information about the circumstances of the disappearance.
According to unofficial information from that media, the center of the investigation is the children’s father, a citizen of Syria, who is suspected of kidnapping. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that he left Austria with the children.
The police appeal to citizens to immediately report any information that could help in finding the children via the emergency number 133.
The search for the boys continues.
