Turkish Airlines on Friday rejected claims it had canceled flights from Turkey to Iran, saying operations to Tehran were proceeding as planned, the company’s senior vice president of communications said.
“Claims circulating on social media regarding flight cancellations to Iran do not reflect the truth. We do not have any flight cancellations. Our daily flights are continuing as scheduled,” Yahya Ustun said on the US-based X social network.
In recent weeks, the United States has increased its military presence in the Persian Gulf and hinted at the possibility of military action to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear and missile programs and rein in “its regional allies.”
Tehran has accused Washington and Israel of fabricating pretexts for intervention and regime change, and has warned that it will respond to any military attack, even if limited, stressing that sanctions relief must accompany any curbs on its nuclear program.
