Today, President Donald Trump announced that he would nominate Mike Waltz for Ambassador at the United Nations, crossing the position of National Security Advisor.
Marco Rubio will now perform the duty of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Security Advisers, Trump said.
“Mike Waltz worked hard to put the interests of our nation first. I know it will work the same in his new role,” Trump written on Truth Social. “Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Marco Rubio will perform a national security advisor, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with great success will be.”
Earlier today, CNN reported that Waltz would leave his position for national security advisers in the coming days, according to sources, which is the first major shift in the administration from Trump’s arrival in January. Waltz’s position was insecure after it was clear to him at the beginning of this week that his function at the head of the National Security Council came to the end, according to the source addressed to the situation.
Waltz was in an unstable position after, awkwardly, add a journalist to the group to exchange messages about highly sensitive military attacks.
