U.S. President Donald Trump stated that cuts in the financing of the US International Development Agency (USAID) and its programs around the world “destroying”.
Responding to the question of journalists about reducing assistance agents abroad, Trump said that this decision had a significant impact on Africa.
“It’s destroying,” Trump said in an oval cabinet, where he met with the president of the South Africa Repubic Syrene Ramafos.
He added that he talked about it with other countries and wanting to “give contributions and spend money.”
“We want them to contribute and spend money too. And we have spent a lot. And it is a big problem that happens in many countries. Nobody always seek. No one else helps,” Trump said.
The Trump Administration has repeatedly defended the decision to reduce USAID funding, saying that the cuts focused on the funds consuming. The abolition of the Agency is currently subject to several federal lawsuits. The United States is the world’s largest humanitarian assistance donor and has so far covered 38 percent of all contributions that have recorded the UN.
Last year, they paid $ 61 billion abroad aid, of which something more than half went through USAID, is stated in official data.
