Novak Djokovic has announced that he is retiring from the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA).
Unexpectedly and to a great surprise, Novak Djokovic issued a statement in which he announced that he is no longer a member of the PTPA, of which he was a co-founder.
– After careful consideration, I have made the decision to completely withdraw from the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). This decision was made due to long-term concerns regarding transparency, management and the way my voice and my image were presented – said Djokovic.

He added that he is “proud of the vision that Vasek and I shared when we founded the PTPA – to provide players with a stronger, independent voice – but it became clear that my values and my approach no longer matched the current direction the organization was taking.
– I will continue to focus on tennis, my family and contributing to the sport in ways that reflect my principles and integrity. I wish the players and everyone involved much success in their future work, but for me this chapter is now closed – Djokovic wrote.
Even last year, the Serbian tennis player expressed his disagreement with the decisions of the PTPA when that organization launched a legal fight against umbrella organizations. Djokovic believed that the situation was far more complex, but that did not change anything.
Đoković, together with Vasek Pospišil, founded the Association of Professional Tennis Players in 2020.
