The Council of Ministers of BiH took note of the Information of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations on the state of the tourism sector, and the data show that the positive growth trend continued in 2025.
Tourism is increasingly being confirmed as one of the most promising and fastest growing branches of the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our country is positioning itself as an authentic, safe and attractive destination, recognizable for its rich cultural and historical heritage, natural beauty and competitive prices.
The growing interest of tourists, both from European and more distant countries, additionally confirms that Bosnia and Herzegovina is becoming more and more visible on the world tourist map.
According to data from the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC), in 2024, tourism contributed 8.9 percent to the gross domestic product of BiH, including direct and indirect effects.
International cooperation remains an important part of the development of this sector. During 2025, a memorandum on cooperation in tourism was signed with Egypt, and in the following period, an agreement with Italy is expected to be signed and agreements with Malta and Qatar will be finalized.
Bosnia and Herzegovina also participates in numerous international fairs, conferences and forums, as well as in European and regional initiatives such as the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, the Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region and other regional platforms, which further strengthens the country’s integration into European and world tourism flows.
Several important projects are currently being implemented, among which are “Via Dinarica”, projects within the framework of European strategies for regional development, support for regional economic integration, as well as programs for the development of sustainable tourism in the countries of the Western Balkans.
All this confirms that tourism is becoming one of the key drivers of economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
