The death of a 43-year-old woman who was in the intensive care unit of the Reina Sofia Hospital in Córdoba raised the death toll from the Adamuz train accident on January 18 to 46, government sources said.
Twenty-eight of the total number of victims were from the province of Huelva, “Pais” reported. The victim, a resident of La Palma del Condado, was among the passengers of the Alvia train from Madrid.
At the time of the accident, she was returning from taking the prison guard exam.

As of Friday, 16 of the 126 injured passengers are still in hospitals in Andalusia, two of whom are in intensive care.
The Andalusian Health Service reported another discharge and one patient who left the intensive care unit.
Due to the death of the latest victim, the Spanish government decided to postpone the national commemoration scheduled for January 31 in Huelva.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez promised that the country would continue the investigation and provide support to the families affected by the tragedy.
