Trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States of America and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi ended today, but will continue on Saturday, Sky News and Reuters report. The White House assessed that the talks were productive, and the parties agreed that the dialogue should continue.
The participants will inform their capitals about the results achieved. Today’s talks were held in a closed format, without the presence of the media, and the American agency AP reports that the delegations were occasionally divided into smaller groups to discuss different topics, while at other times they all discussed together.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, pointed out that the parameters for ending the conflict are being negotiated in Abu Dhabi. At the beginning of the negotiations, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, greeted the participants, expressing the hope that the talks will bring the parties closer to a solution to the crisis. The UAE President also received the participants, wishing them success and supporting peace efforts.
The Ukrainian delegation is led by the Secretary of the National Security Council, Rustem Umerov. The Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi consists exclusively of representatives of the Ministry of Defense, led by the head of the General Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Igor Kostyukov. The US is represented by NATO’s Supreme Commander in Europe, Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, Special Representative of the President Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner and Josh Greenbaum.
Negotiations between the special representative of the President of Russia for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev and the US envoy Steve Witkoff within the bilateral working group for economic issues are planned for today or tomorrow, the spokesman announced.
