At the age of 70, Srećko Bogdan, legendary Croatian football player, former national team player and one of the most important players in the history of Dinamo Zagreb, has died, Međimurska sports network reports.
Bogdan was born on January 5, 1957 in Murski Središć. He started his playing career in Rudar there, and then played for MČ from Čakovec. Already in 1975, he arrived at Dinamo, whose jersey he wore for ten years and left a deep mark.
Champion with Dinamo in 1982
He was a defender by profession, but he was decorated with jump play, firmness and sense of scoring, which is why he often participated in the offensive actions of his team. He played 309 official games for Dinamo and scored 42 goals, which is an exceptional performance for a player in his position.
He won with the Maksimir club championship title in 1982what about you Cup in 1980 and 1983. His persistence, quality and longevity made him one of the players with the most appearances in the history of Dinamo, and many still remember him as one of the trademarks of a great generation. He played 11 games for the national team of Yugoslavia. He made his debut in 1977 in Bogotá against Colombia, and made his last appearance in 1983 in Luxembourg against West Germany. He played two games for the Croatian national team and scored one goal, appearing against Romania in 1990 and Slovenia in 1991.
Coach after playing career
After he concluded his playing career, he devoted himself to coaching. In Karlsruhe, he worked as a youth school director, junior coach and senior assistant coach. Later, he managed VfR Mannheim, Inter from Zaprešić, Segesta, Međimurje and Savski Marof, and he remained active in working with young footballers.
The wider sports public also remembers him as expert co-commentator of HRT during the 2006 World Cup. in Germany.
