Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen will attend today and in the following days discussions on the strategy of the Arctic security alliance in several NATO member states, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
He will be in Oslo today for talks, on Monday he will travel to London, and then on Thursday to Stockholm, according to foreign news agencies.
The diplomatic tour followed Trump’s announcement of tariffs on Saturday.
– In an unstable and unpredictable world, Denmark needs close friends and allies – said Rasmussen in today’s press release. He said that “we all agree on the need to strengthen NATO’s role in the Arctic” and added that he looked forward to discussing how to achieve this.
Denmark, in cooperation with several European allies, recently joined the declaration on Greenland, which states that the mineral-rich island is part of NATO and that its security is the joint responsibility of the alliance members, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
