The British Council has opened a competition for the Women in STEM program, which enables talented female scientists to obtain a master’s degree in the United Kingdom, with the aim of strengthening professional development and career success at the global level. This year, 15 scholarships are awarded in 10 countries of wider Europe, including Bosnia and Herzegovina.
To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), the British Council is inviting interested female candidates to apply to study in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom.
In the academic year 2026/27. a total of 15 scholarships (five at each university) will be awarded to candidates from the countries of the Western Balkans, Turkey, Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Studies are carried out at three reputable British universities – University of Bath, University of Bradford and Durham University – with a wide selection of master’s programs. After completing their studies, scholarship recipients return to their countries to apply the acquired knowledge and experience in the development of the STEM sector.
The value of an individual scholarship is at least £40,000 and includes full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, travel and visa costs, health insurance and support for English language learning. The program provides the opportunity to study at world-renowned universities and connect with leading experts in STEM fields, as well as with the British Council’s global alumni network.
The program is especially intended for women who would not have the opportunity to study abroad without this scholarship. In accordance with the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, applications are open to women of all ages, provided they meet the academic criteria for admission to the desired degree program, including an appropriate undergraduate degree.
