The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision approving the participation of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the peacekeeping mission in Gaza, it was confirmed for Klix.ba.
As told to our portal, the decision was made unanimously, that is, all three members of the BiH Presidency (Željko Komšić, Denis Bećirović and Željka Cvijanović) voted for the decision.
Let us remind you that earlier the possible participation of members of the Armed Forces of BiH in the peacekeeping mission in Gaza was announced by the Minister of Defense Zukan Helez.
“I want to share one piece of news that we have not shared in public before, which is that we are talking, agreeing, and I think it will be successful for our peacekeeping forces to participate in the peacekeeping mission in Gaza that will be led by the US,” Helez said in November last year.
According to information obtained by Klix.ba at the end of 2025, American officials are in meetings with Bosnia and Herzegovina. it was suggested to the politicians that the soldiers of the Armed Forces volunteer to go to Gaza, but the exact details of this potential participation were not known.
Also, soldiers from Bosnia and Herzegovina would go on a voluntary basis, and for that they will receive a monetary compensation, which is usually large for such missions. Part of the proposal was that one officer of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina be in a unified command, which together with the Peace Committee, would manage the International Stabilization Forces (ISF).
The arrival of the ISF in Gaza, where soldiers from Bosnia and Herzegovina could also be found, is foreseen in the second phase of the peace agreement signed by Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas. The agreement is still in the first phase.
