The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the request of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the participation of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the peacekeeping mission in Gaza.
The main coordinator is the United States of America and the call for participation is their initiative. There are no details for the public, but it is unofficially known that 50 members of the Armed Forces of BiH could take part in the peacekeeping mission. The question is under whose military contingent would BiH soldiers could participate in the mission.
Two months ago, American officials presented a proposal that members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina could apply to participate in the peacekeeping mission in Gaza. Applications are voluntary, and we learn that almost 50 soldiers of the Armed Forces can participate in the mission.
The plan is to establish a coordinating body that will include the Brigadier of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the second phase, as stipulated in the signed peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, soldiers could travel to Gaza.
“Now we are working out the details with our partners, the key role will be played by the US. We still cannot provide all the details, they are still negotiations, so from the beginning of the negotiations we have agreed not to go public with all the details until we have agreed on everything, and after that, of course, we will inform the public with all the details,” said Aleksandar Goganović, Deputy Minister of Defense of BiH, reports Radio Sarajevo.
