Amendments to the Law on Health Insurance in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have reopened the conflict between trade unions and employers. While the employers demand that they bear the cost of sick leave for only 15 days instead of the current 42, the unions clearly say that they will not agree to such a proposal.
This issue will be discussed at a special thematic session of the FBiH Economic and Social Council in early March, and one of the most tense discussions in recent times is expected.
A special, thematic session will be held on March 3 this year.
This is it To the factor confirmed by Samir Kurtović, president of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He said that the Trade Union together with the branch Trade Union of Health Workers of FBiH is preparing for a discussion and that they will not agree to the proposal of the Association of Employers of FBiH, that the employer pays the worker only 15 days of sick leave, instead of 42 as stated in the law.
– We are ready for a discussion, but there is no way we will agree to the employers’ request. There is another possibility if they have doubts and if they think that the 42-day sick leave of the worker is not justified, let them ask the doctor for an explanation – concludes Kurtović.
Safudin Cengić, chairman of the Economic and Social Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said on Tuesday, after the session, that the most discussion was about amendments to the Law on Health Insurance.
According to him, employers consider it unacceptable that workers stay on sick leave for an average of 40 days, while in European Union countries that average is between six and seven days.
