Spain made a decision today to close its airspace to American planes participating in military operations in Iran, Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed.
It was previously announced from Madrid that the United States cannot use the joint military bases of the Spanish and American armies for activities related to that conflict.
– This was made quite clear to the American army from the very beginning. Therefore, neither the bases nor the Spanish airspace are available for any actions related to the war in Iran – Robles told reporters.
Robles emphasized that such a position was clearly communicated to the American side from the beginning.
Prime Minister’s Government Pedro Sanchez is considered one of the most critical in Europe when it comes to the military moves of the United States of America and Israel in the Middle East.
Speaking about the current situation, Robles reiterated that Spain’s position is clear, evaluating the conflict in Iran as “deeply illegal and extremely unjust.”
