On that occasion, high-quality construction tools and machinery were stolen. On March 18, 2025, the vehicle used by the group was stopped by Hungarian police at the Röszke (Hungary) border crossing. Numerous stolen construction tools and machines from Austria were found in the cargo area, which were immediately confiscated.
The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old citizen of Serbia, was arrested on the basis of a European arrest warrant and extradited to Austria on March 28, 2025. During the interrogation, he admitted to the commission of the criminal acts and was taken to Wien-Josefstadt prison by order of the Viennese prosecutor’s office.
The inspectors, through further extensive investigations, identified two more Serbian citizens as suspected accomplices. European arrest warrants have also been issued against them. Thanks to a careful analysis of the confiscated goods and intensive investigations, the police attributed a total of 22 burglaries in the Vienna area to this group, with a total damage of more than 166,700 euros. The criminal acts were committed in the period from March 11 to 18, 2025.
All suspects were arrested and extradited to Austria.
