NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said today that the Alliance is closely monitoring the situation in the Western Balkans and will not tolerate a security vacuum in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Rutte pointed out that NATO remains actively engaged through the KFOR mission and other activities in the region, including Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, and that the Alliance is closely monitoring the development of events.
He made these statements during a press conference at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of the Alliance’s defense ministers, answering a question from a journalist from Serbia about the current security situation in the Balkans.
Speaking about Kosovo, Rutte emphasized that NATO still expects responsibility for the events in Banjska, as well as for other incidents during 2023, Tanjug reported.
