According to him, WhatsApp can return to function in Russia, but it depends on compliance with the law and readiness for dialogue, reports Vedomosti.
“If WhatsApp continues to ignore Moscow’s demands, the chances of its return to Russia are zero,” Peskov added.
The reason for blocking WhatsApp, as experts explain, is not only a legal conflict with the Meta corporation, but also of a technical nature.
Roskomnadzor’s equipment cannot limit YouTube, Telegram and WhatsApp at the same time, so resources are freed up for more effective blocking of Telegram, according to the RBK portal.
The Telegram platform, experts explain, is much more resistant to blocking than WhatsApp thanks to a well-deployed infrastructure and strong encryption.
“In order to slow down Telegram, you need huge computing capacities. WhatsApp has not been modernized in that way, so it is easier to block it,” said independent telecommunications expert Alexei Uchakin, reports Tanjug.
The DNS system translates domain names into IP addresses, and without this translation, devices cannot connect to WhatsApp’s servers.
